Jade Mountain Resort seeks to move away from single use plastics within its business via the transfer to viable alternatives that have been evaluated for purpose and suitability for integration as a waste product into the waste management systems within Saint Lucia.
Through its work they help to support others through the same changes, openly sharing best practice.
WHAT
Jade Mountain Resort is working towards the elimination of single use or non-compostable plastics from its operation.
HOW
The resort examines each area of Single Use Plastics, involve their team in regular discussions and brainstorming sessions. They now embrace traditional food and drink container forms such as coconut and calabash. They are working with suppliers towards switching into bulk packaging of amenities, and replacing all take away service containers with sustainable containers suitable for Saint Lucia.
WHY
There is currently no waste recycling in Saint Lucia and all waste is land filled – everyone is a contributor to waste so it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure wise choices are made, that mitigate and or minimize the impact on residual plastics being land filled.
